Remember if you start with a good bathroom plan, remodeling will be so much easier.
Ask for references
Before you choose your project manager you should ask them if they have any recent customers that you could talk to or better still, go and see the finished product. Ask the customer what they think of the person you are thinking of hiring and how their project went. Make sure you ask whether the project came in on time and on budget. This is one of the best ways to find a good reliable manager.
You don't have to take the cheapest quote
The price of the quotations is almost always a factor in your decision but don't go for the cheapest quote if you don't like the standard of their work. You will regret it at the end of the day. A good contract manager should allow you to write penalty clauses into the contract for the event that the project runs over time or over budget. If you want to take advantage of this you must have some very detailed plans for them to work to because any change that you request during the project will allow the manager to adjust the quotation without penalty.
The manager must be managed
It doesn't stop once you've hired your contract manager. Sorry but you still have to manage the manager. Remember that unless you have paid a lot of money for exclusive use of your manager's time then they are going to be sharing their time amongst yours and their other projects. You're job is to make sure that they spend most of their time on your project so make sure that you contact them every day for progress reports and discussions about the work and don't let them take liberties and fall behind.
Before any work starts on your bathroom I suggest that you take some pictures of it as it is right now to compare it with your dream bathroom when the work is finished. There are some before and after remodeling pictures from my own bathroom in the article Pictures of Bathrooms Before and After Remodeling
