Properties of 304 Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is produced from 90% recycled metal, is manufactured environmentally and is 100% recyclable itself. Therefore our towel rails and radiators will last a lifetime as they are manufactured from Type 304 Stainless Steel welds. Small marks and scratches can be polished out so the towel rail or radiator of your choice will at all times look fantastic. This makes a towel rail or radiator of this class the best decision to make in order to heat your home. As our towel rails and radiators are made from a Type 304 Stainless Steel, it holds back rust unlike some other towel rails and radiators which possess a lesser grade.
Type 304 Stainless Steel is a variation of the basic 18/8 grade, Type 302, with higher chromium and lower carbon content. This lower carbon content minimises chromium carbide precipitation due to welding and its susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. Type 304 Stainless Steel can be exposed continuously to a maximum temperature of 899°C (1650°F) without appreciable scaling. For intermittent exposure, the maximum temperature is around 816°C (1500°F). Types 304 Stainless Steel have very good drawability. Their combination of low yield strength and high elongation permits successful forming of complex shapes.
